Hired Venues

A hired wedding venue should be large enough, well located and ideally enhance everyone's experience of the wedding day. It must combine good facilities with, for example, a historic building, beautiful gardens or a striking view. A hired venue may be licensed so it can be used for both the ceremony and the reception, or it may just be hired for the reception only.

Venues may come with their own caterers, or they may have recommended suppliers that they encourage the couple to use. Some venues will allow the bride and groom to bring in their own people, but most establishments are keen to provide the catering for obvious financial reasons.

Hotel weddings offer more than just a reception venue. Packages usually include deals on accommodation for the wedding party and guests, as well as providing facilities for the ceremony too.
