About EMSI
Electron Microscope Society of India (EMSI) was inaugurated on 2nd December 1961 at Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics by Late Prof. S. N. Bose as a collective effort of several scientists including Prof. N. N. Das Gupta and Dr. (Mrs.) S. M. Sirsat. The first conference of EMSI was held on 2nd and 3rd December 1961.

It is my pleasant duty to welcome you all, who have visited the web site of EMSI.
Since EMSI-2015 in July in Mumbai, the EC has been formed and the first EC meeting was held in Kalpak am on 3rd October, 2015.
Many of the suggestions in the AGM of 2015 have been discussed in the EC meeting and activities for the tenure of the current EC, 2015 to 2017 are finalized.

As you know or have found out already, this society is more than 5 decades old! It's stood the test of time under the able leadership of stalwarts from the Indian Electron Microscopy community, that spans across the realm of materials-scientists as well as life-scientists.

The horizontal type transmission electron microscope, claimed by experts as the first to be built over two years - 1946 to 1948 in Asia by a team of scientists lead by Prof N N Das Gupta founder president of EMSI and now at display in SINP, Kolkata.
