Don't Hold Your Breath For That FANTASTIC FOUR/X-MEN Crossover

If Fox really was working towards this cinematic universe we've been hearing about, it sounds like those plans no longer include the Fantastic Four! In a recent interview, X-Men producers now claim that the characters from both franchises exist in completely separate universes...

Recent rumors suggested that director Bryan Singer was being courted to guide both his X-Men and the Fantastic Four towards a combined cinematic universe for Fox's stable of Marvel properties. Following that, Singer himself seemed to confirm that that was indeed the plan, though he never mentioned any involvement. Now maybe the critical reaction to Josh Trank's reboot made them rethink things, but in a joint email to New York Daily News, producers Simon Kinberg and Hutch Parker completely played down any connection between the two franchises.

"They exist in parallel universes. The Fantastic 4 live in a world without mutants. And the X-Men live in a world without the Fantastic 4. Crossing them over would be challenging, but we sure would love to see all those actors together, the way we had them on stage at [San Diego] Comic Con."

Remember those SDCC pics? Surely Fox was teasing some kind of shared universe there? Kinberg and Parker don't rule it out completely, but it definitely seems like they're trying to distance their beloved X-movies from the... well, laughing stock that Fantastic Four has become. Which is actually a shame, because the cast of that movie deserve a lot better and there's plenty of potential for those characters to blossom with the right creative team behind them.

Have you seen Fantastic Four yet? Do you intend to? You can check out my review of the movie HERE.

Pfffft.

Bet they can't even because of contracts. The X-Men and FF contracts would have been signed at different times. Imagine they can't crossover without Marvel's permission.
Reasonnnn - 8/6/2015, 6:09 PM
^^^ Yup, they need Marvel to sign off on a crossover, which is just more salt in the wound.
DrKinsolving - 8/6/2015, 6:34 PM
Good, I hope they don't cross over
KurtWagner1225 - 8/6/2015, 6:37 PM
let's see how FF does at the box office this weekend
JamesMann - 8/6/2015, 6:39 PM
We already knew that they existed in parallel universes. Since FF is all about traveling to other dimensions then it's feasible that would be the idea for an FF/X-Men crossover. If (and that's a huge IF) the film is successful they could easily do it.
JamesMann - 8/6/2015, 6:43 PM
If FF does go back to Marvel (which, without seeing the new FF movie at this point I'm ambivalent to) I'll be happy that at least the X-Men won't go back.

But that's because I think the X-Men work muuuuuuuch better outside of the Marvel world than connected to it.

‏@joshuatrank A year ago I had a fantastic version of this. And it would've recieved great reviews. You’ll probably never see it. That’s reality though.

distance yourselves!

Look at all the f*cks I give.

Put FF away from X-Men. X-Men is the only CBM franchise that Fox still hasn't completely f*cked up (thanks to Singer). Do you want it ruined? Fox should leave X-Men to Singer and sell the FF rights to Marvel.

Doesn't sound like they scrap the idea.

Maybe after FF will bomb at the box office. But i'm not sure it will bomb. They could still make FF2/XMen movie just like DC went with BvS after MOS

Well, it's going to be fun to see a renegated character, , low budget, PG18 movie, as Deadpool make more cash than Fantastic 4.

I'm really looking foward to it.
jerryblake - 8/7/2015, 6:15 AM
still ... the perfect situation in this case is to handle Marvel FF rights and get X-Men tv rights instead. Win/Win situation.
LEVITIKUZ - 8/7/2015, 6:15 AM
Marvel won't get the rights back anytime soon.

7 years from now, we will see a FF reboot from Fox.
DallasAvenger - 8/7/2015, 6:16 AM
Makes sense. In a world full of mutants four people who got their powers a different way don't sound very fantastic. More like The Asterisk Four.
Doopie - 8/7/2015, 6:16 AM
will Fox just [frick] up the next one as well though?
jerryblake - 8/7/2015, 6:17 AM
@LEVITIKUZ

yeah ... well ... it's Fantastic FOUR. So you kinda have to [frick] this up four times.
jerryblake - 8/7/2015, 6:17 AM
at least they got the title right
Doopie - 8/7/2015, 6:18 AM
you gotta think they're doing it on purpose at this point

"But that's because I think the X-Men work muuuuuuuch better outside of the Marvel world than connected to it."

But think, how do you top Infinity Wars? Avengers vs Xmen .... I think that would be the ultimate crossover.
CherryBomb - 8/7/2015, 6:18 AM
Good!
X-Men are special in their own world. They battle against discrimination because they are different, throwing them into a world where we can establish everyone can be a superhero by various other means just takes away from that.

X-Men need to stay with Fox, and F4 shouldn't cross over with X-Men.
Unless you have them meet in the middle in some sort of Savage Land universe situation
crawley - 8/7/2015, 6:18 AM
What are the critics saying?
kevberg - 8/7/2015, 6:18 AM
Translation: I wonder how much we can get from Marvel to take this sh@# back.
MPambassador - 8/7/2015, 6:18 AM
Both the X-Men and Fantastic Four have done a lot of parallel universe travel, Days of Future Past did time travel which is even harder than parallel universe travel. It's a cop out. Fox is banking on Deadpool and X-Men installments. Honestly, if Deadpool doesn't impress and with Hugh Jackman leaving the claws behind after the third Wolvie movie, Fox's X-Men properties will crumble.
Mysterion - 8/7/2015, 6:19 AM
Fantastic Four is still at 9% in Rotten Tomatoes after 110 reviews...
I remember when Green Lantern was getting trashed in reviews too, I chose to ignore them and see the movie at the theater....boy did I regret that immediately. I will not make the same mistake twice.
superotherside - 8/7/2015, 6:19 AM
If I was Marvel I'd be like...

MARVELPSYCHO79 - 8/7/2015, 6:19 AM
This movie is not that bad is it?
Giznad - 8/7/2015, 6:19 AM
I feel like no one is aware of Reed Richards morphing his face into Wolverine in one of the FF movies. Ya tellin me they were separate then?

"We were never going to be able to combine the two, but thought if we said we were you guys might be more inclined to watch our shit movie"

LET'S GO CHAMP!!!Them reviews are looking good.LET'S GO!!!!
DallasAvenger - 8/7/2015, 6:21 AM
What you mean nobody wants to see X-men vs Fantastic Four: Mojoverse?
SuperCat - 8/7/2015, 6:21 AM
@MARVELPSYCHO79

I was thinking the same thing. Even with all the bad reviews, I'm still going to see it tomorrow.
LEVITIKUZ - 8/7/2015, 6:22 AM
@jerryblake

Well they have Foxxed it up 4 times.

This, 2 Tim Story films, 90s film.
jerryblake - 8/7/2015, 6:24 AM
@LEVITIKUZ

you are right. I forgot about Silver Derper.
MARVELPSYCHO79 - 8/7/2015, 6:24 AM
I'm still LMMFAO at the reviews for this movie.I knew this movie was going to be shit from the beginning.But it looks like this movie is as bad as Batman&Robin.It;'s worse than Green Lantern they say.
MexicanSuperman - 8/7/2015, 6:25 AM
@Reasonnnn, source?
SuperCat - 8/7/2015, 6:25 AM
LOL!! @jerryblake

Silver Derper.
jerryblake - 8/7/2015, 6:27 AM
It's not Batman and Robin. I readed it's more like it could be a better movie (would probably end up being an ok movie at least) but Fox cutted/gutted/reshooted the movie like crazy.
