Lura Seven Lakes Tour

Overview

This tour is for active people who enjoy visiting remote areas and at the same time like hiking. We will visit the National Park of Lura. The most picturesque features of this park is the 14 glacier lakes of Lura,and seven of these are known as the Seven Blue Eyed, Green Eye lashed lakes of Lurë, due to their stunning beauty, remaining full of water throughout the year. The main lake of the park is the Lake of Flowers – 1,585m high, with an area of 1,44ha. In this tour people will travel along the Drin River, which is one of the longest rivers in Albania. During our journey we will get to know the local people and their culture. You will also experience the local dishes by staying in village houses. In this tour people will pursue from remote areas to well known cities in Albania, such as Durres, Kruja, and Tirana. Within few days you can witnesses the variation and the diversity of nature and culture in Albania.

Itinerary

Day 1.

Arrival in Kruja. At 18:00, meeting the tour guide at the hotel lobby. Before having the dinner we will be busy by visiting the old bazaar and the castle of Scanderbeg. Kruja is known as hometown of Albanian’s National Hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg. Whilst the old bazaar is one of Albania’s largest handicrafts market. This bazaar has operated since the 15th century. Dinner and overnight in Kruja.

Day 2.

After enjoying the breakfast, visit the national & ethnographic museums of Kruja. Depart to Lura, which has a national park and the village has historical mountain houses called Kulla. The most picturesque features in Lura are the 7 glacier lakes, which are frozen in winter. During the travelling a lunch stop. Check in the guesthouse, dinner and overnight in Lura.

Day 3.

After enjoying the breakfast, the rest of the day will be spent visiting the national park of Lura and its seven amazing lakes. The picnic lunch will be under fresh shadow pines and beautiful birds’ songs. Overnight at the same guesthouse in Lura.

Day 4

This day will walk back through the national park and Lure village to Lure ridge from which will take a mini-bus to Peshkopi via a gravel road. We will pass Sine village the birthplace of Gjergj Kastriot Skenderbeu the national hero of Albania. You can visit the museum about the Kastriot family in Sine. Lunch might be taken in Arras at the trout farm. Overnight in Peshkopi.

Day 5

In Peshkopi a visit can be made to local museum and then the hot springs that are visited and used by many people for its skin disease and rheumatic curing power. Then driving to Rabdisht, a very interesting village, called the village of stone roofs. There we’ll have the lunch at a farmer house. From Rabdisht going to Bellove village to visit the ruins of a medieval castle and then driving back to Peshkopi. Overnight at the same hostel in Peshkopi.

Day 6

Departure to Durresi. Travelling along the Mat river valley and Buffalo Neck valley. The lunch will be in a traditional restaurant on the top of a pines’ hill and a coffee break will be taken in Burrel, the hometown of the Albanian king Zog. After arriving in Durres visit the byzantine city walls, roman amphitheatre and the archaeological museums. Dinner will be in a restaurant with live music. Overnight in Durres.

Day 7

Arrival in Tirana. Half-day tour of the capital, Tirana. Visit in National Museum, Bllok neighbourhood, Scanderbeg square. Free time to explore Tirana’s shops and boutiques. Dinner. Overnight in Tirana.

Day 8

Leaving Albania. End of the tour.

Price: 605 Eur/person in twin room for minimum group’s size of 6 people. Groups with less people are welcome but the price will be different.
