    Lakeland High School junior Marisa Sailus took on the heptathlon for the first time recently at the AAU Regional 12 National Qualifier recently in Ypsilanti and placed second in her age group (17-18 year olds), earning a trip to the AAU Junior Olympics July 31-Aug. 8 in Hampton Roads, Va.

    WALLED LAKE >> Walled Lake Northern’s Devin Hager has verbally committed to play college baseball at Eastern Michigan University. Arguably the best shortstop in Oakland County last spring, Hager held a .928 fielding average, was part of 14 double plays, and was able to make difficult plays look routine, getting to ground balls that most infielders would not have the chance to get to, let alone make a play.
