Urgent Action: Stop Bill C-377

On June 26, Conservatives in the Senate passed a motion to limit debate and force a vote on Bill C-377, anti-labour legislation that would impose onerous reporting requirements on CUASA, CAUT and other labour organizations.

Take action

Please e-mail or call Conservative Senators

The bill has been opposed by many groups, including:

  • NHL Players Association
  • Liberal and Conservative Senators
  • Constitutional Experts
  • Canada's privacy commissioner
  • the Canadian Bar Association
  • the insurance and mutual fund industry
  • seven provinces and,
  • a long and diverse list of academics, labour leaders and others in the business legal and other sectors.

Not only is this legislation an attack on unions, the actions of the majority in the Senate to change the rules to suit their purpose just serves to highlight ongoing issues in the Senate.

Continue to share this as widely as possible with activists and supporters and use the hashtag #playbytherules377 on social media.

Update: FASS Workload Grievance

Last year, the Association filed a grievance against the FASS workload policy implemented by Dean John Osborne. Earlier today, the arbitrator issued a ruling dismissing the grievance (below).

The Association is disappointed in this decision and is continuing to explore its options. We will keep our members apprised.

If you have any questions, please direct them to cuasa@cuasa.ca.
