Chrissy Teigen and John Legend's marriage is inspiring a sitcom from Black-ish creator Kenya Barris
They are already among the busiest couples in showbiz.
Now superstar singer John Legend and his model-turned-TV celebrity wife Chrissy Teigen are inspiring a sitcom on ABC, BuzzFeed News reported on Friday.
Black-ish creator Kenya Barris, who has a three-year deal with ABC Studios to develop new projects, told the website that his first effort will be a comedic take loosely based on the marriage between the award-winning singer and Sports Illustrated beauty.
Not your usual comedy couple: Superstar singer John Legend and his model-turned-TV celebrity wife Chrissy Teigen, pictured at an event in St Tropez, France in July, are inspiring a potential sitocm on ABC
'It’s inspired by them — they’re both super creative and super effusive and I’m just fans of them and everything they stand for,' Kenya said.
They will both will producers on the project, which is tentatively titled, Ordinary People, after John's 2004 Grammy-winning track of the same name. 'I feel that song serves as a thematic background for the show,' Kenya told BuzzFeed.
She provided a few details, saying: 'It will be about an interracial couple. We don’t know what’s going to be what.
Their next project: Chrissy, 29, and her 36-year-old husband will also produce the show, tentatively named Ordinary People after John's hit
'But it will be a part of the show in terms of showing those two world’s colliding and coming together — their issues and their obstacles that [happen inside] their personal relationship.'
Utah-born Chrissy, 29, owes her exotic beauty to her Thai mother and her Norwegian father while John, 36, is a black American who hails from Springfield, Ohio.
The couple met on the set of John's 2007 music video for Stereo. They married on September 14, 2013 in Como, Italy.
Setting up a new project: The show is being created by Black-ish's Kenya Barris, right, who is pictured with Larry Wilmore and Tracee Ellis Ross at the American Black Film Festival at the New York Hilton on June 14
And if the inter-racial sitcom angle sounds familiar, think Fifties hit comedy I Love Lucy, about actress Lucille Ball and her Cuban bandleader husband Ricky Ricardo, which still runs on late night TV.
If Ordinary People gets the greenlight it will begin filming in February, according to Kenya.
How how the couple will work the new series into their busy schedules remains to be seen.
Chrissy is due to appear in a new ABC syndicated daytime talk show, FABLife, alongside Tyra Banks, Yahoo Style Editor in Chief Joe Zee, interior designer and TV host Lauren Makk and The Haute List co-host Leah Ashley.

John is due to play a series of concerts including two in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on September 18 and 20; Rome and Padua in Italy on November 11 and 12; and the Alumni Arena in Amherst New York on November 18.
