Card Reissue Frequently Asked Questions
When will I receive my new card(s)? You should receive your new credit card(s) between November 14 and November 28, 2014. If you have not received a new card by December 1, please call 1.800.388.2000.
When will my PIN arrive? Your new Personal Identification Number will arrive separately via the mail, shortly after you receive your new card.
What do I need to do to begin using my new card? To begin using your card, you and all joint cardholders should please follow these important steps:
STEP #1 - ACTIVATE your card by calling 1.800.527.7728 and following the instructions.
STEP #2 - UPDATE your card number with any VENDORS that automatically charge your credit card (e.g., insurance, mobile phone, Netflix, EZ Pass, utilities, subscriptions, etc.) with your new account number, expiration date, and CVV code (on the back of the card) to ensure uninterrupted service. Hint: Your statement can help you remember!
STEP #3 - REGISTER your card. If you use ONLINE BANKING, and have not logged in to our new online banking system (10.29.14 or after) and registered your credit card you MUST login, select CREDIT CARD from the menu, and follow the instructions to REGISTER your new account number.
STEP #4 - DOWNLOAD the new app AFTER receiving your new credit card. Our new standalone credit card app offers enhanced security features, such as the ability to report your card lost/stolen. Search for "AmeriCU Card" in the Apple App Store or Google Play. Learn more >>
STEP #5 - DESTROY your old card. Please make sure it is our CREDIT card NOT your DEBIT card!
Will my balance automatically transfer to my new account number? Yes. Your balance will automatically be transferred to your new account number.
What account number will I see on my statement? You will see your new account number on your statements and online account access.
If I have two AmeriCU VISA® credit cards, how will I know the difference between the cards that I receive? Members with more than one AmeriCU VISA© card will be mailed a custom letter explaining which new account numbers replace which old account numbers. You can also call our member service center at 1.800.388.2000 or stop by a financial center location to determine the difference between your two new cards.
Will I receive a new card if I am still paying on a closed account? No. You will not receive a new card. You will continue to receive a monthly statement. Please make note of your new account number when remitting your payments.
Can I continue to use my “old” credit card? Yes. However, for your security, you should activate and begin using your new card immediately. Even if your new card is NOT activated, your “old” card will be deactivated by December 15, 2014 to protect your account from fraud. Therefore, your new card needs to be activated no later than that date. If you haven’t received your new card by December 1, 2014, please notify AmeriCU at 1.800.388.2000.
Will my account terms stay the same? Yes. All account terms and conditions (interest rate, billing cycle, etc.) will remain the same.
Will any recurring bills I have set up to automatically charge my credit card transfer to my new account number? No. You MUST update your new card number with any vendors that automatically charge your credit card (e.g., insurance, mobile phone, Netflix, EZ Pass, utilities, subscriptions, etc.) with your new account number and expiration date to ensure uninterrupted service.
If I pay my credit card bill automatically from my AmeriCU checking or savings account, will my payments continue as scheduled? Yes. If you pay your credit card bill automatically from your AmeriCU checking or savings account, your payments will continue as scheduled. If you pay your credit card bill from an account at another financial institution, you will need to update your account number with that financial institution.
If I earn CURewards® Points or Cash Back Rebates, will my accrued points automatically transfer to my new account number? Yes. Any earned CURewards® Points or Cash Back Rebates will automatically transfer to your new account number.
My new card has a different design. Was this intentional? Yes. We spiffed up the design of our AmeriCU VISA® credit cards to give them a sleeker, unified look when the decision was made to reissue cards for cardholder security. (Note: All cards now say "Platinum." However, your account terms remain unchanged.)
