Northwood no more: Seahawks now play for Keiser University
By Matt Lincoln/CBS12
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) - A new volleyball net, with the new name - Keiser University.
Northwood University on Military Trail in West Palm Beach officially became Keiser University on Wednesday.
The school is keeping Seahawks as the school mascot, and other than signage all over the fields and courts, athletics won't change much at the school.
Chancellor Dr. Arthur Keiser says he sees athletics as a major part of the college experience. This is the first of his 17 campuses to have athletics.. and the Seahawks family believe that will be a good thing.
Keiser bought the 100 acre West Palm Beach campus in March. This is a much bigger school than the other campuses and features a different type of student bodies. Their new campus will have a lot more students straight out of high school, over adult students.

MLB-SCHEDULE
UNDATED (AP) -- Just a half-game separates the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees in the American League East.
The Yankees shaved a game off their deficit by downing the Rays 5-2. Luis Severino won his third straight start, limiting Tampa Bay to a run and seven hits in 6 1/3 innings.
The Yankees collected just four hits, but three were home runs by Alex Rodriguez, Brian McCann and rookie Greg Bird. A-Rod put the Yankees ahead with his 681st career round-tripper, a two-run blast in the second inning.
The Blue Jays were clobbered by Baltimore as Chris Davis belted his major league-leading 39th and 40th home runs in the Orioles' 10-2 rout in Toronto. Matt Wieters (WEE'-turz) and Adam Jones also went deep to back Ubaldo Jimenez (oo-BAHL'-doh HIH'-meh-nehz), who gave up just one earned run despite six walks and four hits in 5 2/3 innings.
Josh Donaldson collected his major league-high 112th RBI for the Jays.
In Friday's other major league finals:
-- Collin McHugh improved to 15-7 by yielding seven hits and pitching into the eighth inning of Houston's 8-0 shutout of Minnesota. Hank Conger belted a grand slam and had five RBIs for the AL West leaders. Colby Rasmus socked a two-run homer against the Twins, who remain 1 1/2 games behind Texas for the second AL wild-card berth.
-- Minnesota also remains 13 games off the AL Central lead after the first-place Royals absorbed a 12-1 drubbing by the White Sox. Adam Eaton fell a triple shy of the cycle, going 4-for-5 with a three-run homer. Tyler Flowers and Jose Abreu (ah-BRAY'-oo) also homered, and John Danks went the distance on a seven-hitter.
-- Houston's lead in the AL West is up to three games over Texas following the Rangers' 5-2 loss at Anaheim. C.J. Cron provided the Angels' runs, going 3-for-4 with a two-run triple, an RBI double and a run-scoring single. The Rangers mustered just two runs and five hits in six innings against Garrett Richards before the Angels' bullpen tossed three scoreless frames.
-- Pittsburgh hammered St. Louis 9-3, ending the Pirates' four-game slide and putting them 5 1/1 games behind the NL Central-leading Cardinals. J.A. Happ blanked the Redbirds on three hits over seven innings to help the Bucs beat the Cards for the sixth time in their last nine meetings. Starling Marte (mahr-TAY') delivered a two-run double and had three RBis for Pittsburgh.
-- The Mets' lead in the NL East is down to five games over the Nationals after Martin Prado (mahr-TEEN' PRAH'-doh) hit a walk-off double in the 11th to give the Marlins a 6-5 triumph over New York. Prado had a career-high five hits and two RBIs as the Marlins earned their fourth consecutive win. Yoenis Cespedes (yoh-EH'-nehs SEHS'-peh-dehs) hit a two-run homer for the Mets, who extended the game with two out in the ninth on Kelly Johnson's second RBI single of the night.
-- Washington beat Atlanta 5-2 on Michael Taylor's three-run homer in the bottom of the 10th. Bryce Harper also went deep for the Nats, who were one out from a 2-1 loss until Matt den Dekker hit an RBI single in the ninth. The Braves have their first 10-game losing streak since 2006.
-- It's now a 7 1/2 game lead for the Dodgers in the NL West. Scott Schebler (SHEHB'-lur) smacked his first major league homer and the Dodgers banged out four other round-trippers in an 8-4 decision over San Diego. Adrian Gonzalez, Chase Utley, Carl Crawford and pinch-hitter Justin Ruggiano provided the other long balls.
-- Anthony Rizzo belted a grand slam while the Cubbies were erupting for eight runs in the fifth inning of a 14-5 drubbing of Arizona. Addison Russell had the first two-homer game of his brief big league career and finished with three RBIs. Javier Baez added a two-run blast and three ribbies to help the Cubs win for the third time in five games since a four-game skid.
-- The Cubs enjoy an eight-game lead for the second NL wild-card berth after the Giants suffered their seventh straight loss, 2-1 at Colorado. Carlos Gonzalez and Nolan Arenado (ar-eh-NAH'-doh) clubbed back-to-back solo homers in the first inning of the Rockies' third consecutive win. Jorge De La Rosa held San Francisco to a run and six hits while fanning seven in seven innings.
-- Josh Tomlin tossed a four-hitter and Jerry Sands smacked a two-run homer as Cleveland ripped Detroit 8-1. Pinch-hitter Lonnie Chisenhall provided a two-run double for the Indians, who also scored on a hit batsman and a bases-loaded walk.
-- Xander Bogaerts (ZAN'-dur BOH'-gahrts) had two RBIs and Jackie Bradley Jr. hit a solo homer in Boston's 7-5 win over Philadelphia. Winning pitcher Joe Kelly held the Phillies to a pair of runs and five hits in six innings.
-- Kyle Seager, Stefen Romero and Brad Miller drove in three runs apiece as Seattle outscored Oakland 11-8. Romero and Seager supplied two-run homers for the winners after Danny Valencia's grand slam put the A's ahead 4-0 in the first inning.
-- The Brewers and Reds were rained out in Cincinnati. The game will be made up as part of a day-night doubleheader on Saturday.
MLB-INJURIES
UNDATED (AP) -- Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira (teh-SHEHR'-uh) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a bruised right shin suffered when he fouled a ball of the leg on Aug. 17. Teixeira leads the Yankees with 31 home runs and is hitting .255 with 79 RBIs in 111 games.
Also in the Bronx, CC Sabathia (suh-BATH'-ee-uh) has pitched a simulated game Friday without any pain and could rejoin their rotation next Wednesday.
Also in the majors:
-- Reigning American League Cy Young Award winner Corey Kluber (KLOO'-bur) of the Indians has a strained right hamstring. His absence makes the Indians quest for a wild card berth even more difficul. Kluber is just 8-13 this season but leads the league with 200 1/3 innings and is third with 219 strikeouts.
-- Cubs rookie slugger Kyle Schwarber is expected to miss three to five days because of a mild rib cage strain suffered on a checked swing during batting practice on Wednesday. The left-handed hitter hopes to be in the lineup Monday when Chicago opens a three-game series at St. Louis.
-- The Baltimore Orioles have placed Miguel Gonzalez on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder tendinitis, retroactive to August 31. Right-hander Mike Wright has been activated off the 15-day DL and will start for Baltimore against Toronto on Saturday.
T25 FOOTBALL
UNDATED (AP) -- Fourth-ranked Baylor and No. 5 Michigan State have opened their football seasons with victories.
Seth Russell threw for 376 yards and fired three of his five touchdown passes to Jay Lee as the Bears hammered SMU, 56-21. Russell completed 15 of 30 passes and had a 4-yard TD run as Baylor had 723 total yards. They averaged 582 yards and 48 points a game last season. Lee had a pair of impressive scoring grabs in the third quarter to put Baylor in command.
Spartans freshman Madre London ran for two touchdowns in the first five-plus minutes of a 37-24 win against Western Michigan. Connor Cook was 15 of 31 for 256 yards and two touchdowns for Michigan State, which saw a 24-point, third-quarter lead cut to 10 in the final period.
Also in top-25 action, No. 23 Boise State grabbed a 16-0 lead and hung on for a 16-13 win over Washington. Jeremy McNichols ran for 89 yards and two touchdowns for the Broncos.
NFL-MOVES
UNDATED (AP) -- Patriots coach Bill Belichick (BEHL'-ih-chik) was his usual understated self when asked how it felt to have Tom Brady back for the first four games of the season. The coach simply said, "He never left."
Patriots president Jonathan Kraft says the team wouldn't have gone through with raising its Super Bowl 49 championship banner if Brady weren't playing. The son of owner Robert Kraft added that the club may have raised a banner without Brady but that it would not have been their championship banner.
And a Dunkin' Donuts shop in Maine is offering free coffee for life to the federal judge who lifted Brady's suspension.
In other NFL news:
-- A person familiar with the contract talks says the Seahawks and free-agent running back Fred Jackson have agreed to terms on a 1-year deal. The eight-year veteran became a free agent when the Bills cut him on Monday.
-- The Indianapolis Colts acquired linebacker Sio Moore from the Raiders for a late-round draft pick next year. Moore had 140 tackles and 7 1/2 sacks in 26 games in two seasons with Oakland.
-- The Atlanta Falcons have picked up veteran guard Andy Levitre from Tennessee for a sixth-round pick in 2016 and a conditional pick in a future year. Levitre started all 96 games in six seasons with Tennessee and is working under a six-year, $46.8 million contract that was signed in March 2013.
-- Punter Steve Weatherford has been released by the New York Giants, who have replaced him by acquiring Brad Wing in a trade with Pittsburgh. Weatherford was a key member of the Giants' Super Bowl champions in February 2012. Wing's departure means Jordan Berry is the Steelers' new punter.
TENNIS-US OPEN
NEW YORK (AP) -- Top-ranked Serena Williams is still in line for a calendar slam, although she had to rally to reach the fourth round of the U.S. Open on Friday.
The No. 1 seed was one game away from a straight-sets loss before taking the last eight games of a 3-6, 7-5, 6-0 triumph over Bethanie Mattek-Sands. Williams has dropped the opening set in eight matches this year and won them all. She is trying to become the first tennis player since Steffi Graf in 1988 to win all four Grand Slam tournaments in the same season.
Next up for Williams is fellow American Madison Keys, who beat 15th seed Agnieszka Radwanska (ag-nee-EHS'-kah rad-WAHN'-skah), 6-3, 6-2.
The day's biggest shocker was provided by No. 32 Fabio Fognini (fohn-YEE'-nee), who dropped the first two sets in his match against two-time champion Rafael Nadal before rallying for a 3-6, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 victory. Nadal had never lost a Grand Slam match when taking a two-set lead. It marks the first time in 11 years Nadal will finish a season without capturing at least one major title.
Men's top seed Novak Djokovic (JOH'-koh-vihch) and No. 9 Marin Cilic (CHEE'-lihch) have advanced to the fourth round. Djokovic was a 6-3, 7-5, 7-5 winner against No. 25 Andreas Seppi, and Cilic needed five sets to reach the Round of 16.
No. 19 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (SAHN'-gah) took his third-round match in straight sets, but 10th seed Milos Raonic (MEE'-lohs ROW'-nihch) was a straight-sets loser against No. 18 Feliciano Lopez. 14th seed David Goffin had to retire during the fourth set of his match, and No. 26 Tommy Robredo was beaten by Benoit Paire.
Third-round winners on the women's side include 13th seed Ekaterina Makarova and No. 23 Venus Williams, who was a 6-3, 6-4 winner against 12th seed Belinda Bencic (BEHN'-sihch). No. 25 Eugenie Bouchard (yoo-JEE'-nee boo-shahrd) dispatched Dominika Cibulkova (see-bul-KOH'-vah) 7-6, 4-6, 6-3.
Meanwhile, a high school science teacher has been arrested after a drone plummeted into empty seats and caused a scare at the Open on Thursday night. Police say Daniel Verley was arrested on reckless endangerment and other charges in the drone crash during a women's singles match won by Flavia Pennetta (FLAH'-vee-uh peh-NEH'-tuh). The drone broke into pieces upon landing, and the match was briefly interrupted between points while police and fire department personnel went to look at the device.
