What category of applicant are you?
A freshman applicant is someone currently enrolled in high school. If you've taken college-level credits during high school, you're still considered a freshman. If you haven't taken college-level work since high school graduation, you're also a freshman. Freshman applicants may apply for early action or regular admission decision.
A transfer applicant is someone who graduated from high school and has completed (or will have completed) at least one 3-credit college course prior to the semester of planned enrollment. The completion of one full-time college semester is preferred.
An international applicant is someone who is not a U.S. citizen and who currently holds or will obtain an F or J Visa, to study in the United States as a freshman or transfer student.
A current student is a Binghamton University undergraduate student who wishes to either: 1) transfer to another school within the University or 2) obtain a dual degree.
A returning student is someone who has been out of school for a semester or more and wishes to re-enroll in the same program of study.
A non-degree student (also called non-matriculated or continuing education student) is someone who isn't enrolled in a degree-earning program and is taking courses just to learn, not to earn a degree.
Dates and Deadlines
Early action deadline: November 15
- You must submit either The Common Application or SUNY Application by November 15.
- All other required application materials (transcripts and test scores) must be submitted by December 2.
- Binghamton will provide early action decisions by January 15.
Regular admissions deadline: January 15
- All required application materials (transcripts and test scores) must be submitted by January 15.
- Binghamton will provide regular admission decisions by April 1.
Check the Status of Your Application
Once you've applied, you should regularly check the status of your application. To do this, you'll need a User ID and password. About 5 days after we receive your application, we'll e-mail you a Binghamton University B-Number and User ID. Once you receive these, you'll need to activate your password, and then you can check your application status.
