Courtesy Re-homing Service

If you find yourself no longer able to care for your pet or have inherited a pet from a friend or family member that you cannot keep, consider re-homing the animal through our Re-homing Courtesy Listing. Asheville Humane Society offers this courtesy listing of animals seeking new families at no charge as long as the animal is spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped to the new owner. This enables the current owner, or guardian, to re-home the pet without surrendering the animal to an animal shelter.

For more specific questions regarding this free re-homing service, please contact our Safety Net Supervisor, Emily Gelb, at egelb@ashevillehumane.org or call the Buncombe County Animal Shelter at (828) 250-6430 Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
