Baby Bubbler a breath of fresh air
Rice students' invention helps infants with respiratory ailments

In developing countries, acute respiratory infections are a leading cause of death for children less than five years of age. The Baby Bubbler – or in its more technical guise, the Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) device – helps children with acute respiratory infections breathe naturally as they recover. The device was designed by Rice undergraduate students Jocelyn Brown, Joseph Chang, Haruka Maruyama, and Katie Schnelle. It is batterypowered, inexpensive to produce, and user friendly. Easy-to-follow instructions are provided.
