IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION

Please be advised that Weapons Licensing's preferred method of forwarding renewal package/s is via email.  Please ensure to check both the Inbox and also Junk Mail folders.

We ask that applicants provide Weapons Licensing with their email address or update their existing email address if this has changed.  This can be done by either sending an email to weaponslicensing@police.qld.gov.au and simply state "Here is my email address and Licence Number" or you could complete the Online Change in Circumstances Form available at www.police.qld.gov.au/forms/wlbchangeofaddress.asp.

Please note if applicants do not have an email address, they will continue to receive their courtesy renewal package in hard copy form via Australia Post.

Getting Assistance from Clubs or Dealers

Applicants, you are strongly encouraged to contact your local club or dealer about assisting you to complete your licence application, and ensure the required documentation is submitted. Before you attend your local club or dealer, please refer to the Weapons Licensing website and be aware of the required documentation for your genuine reason. Weapons Applications Flyer​

Telephone Issues

A recent telephone upgrade has caused some technical errors intermittently with phone calls dropping out during the call. This issue is occurring on an irregular basis and is currently being investigated. Should you experience this issue when contacting Weapons Licensing please wait 5 – 10 minutes and call back.

Existing Weapons Licence Holders

As of July 2014, emailing of our courtesy Renewal packages will now be emailed to existing licence holders. We ask that applicants continue to provide Weapons Licensing with their email address or update their existing email address using the online Change in Circumstances service on our website.

Change your details

Have you changed your contact details, home, postal or weapons storage address? You must notify Weapons Licensing. Use the new online Change in Circumstances form.

Storage - Firearms and Weapons

A person who possesses a firearm must take all reasonable precautions to ensure safe storage of their firearm <<more>>

Late Lodgement of Renewal Applications

If a renewal application is lodged at a Queensland Police Station on or after the expiry date on the licence, the licence cannot be renewed <<more>>

Save Time - Apply Online

Individuals and businesses can now apply online for Weapons Licences and Permits to Acquire (a weapon). Check out the apply online page for hints and tips and the video overview.

Please note: You cannot renew your Weapons Licence online. See the renewals section for information on how to renew your Weapons Licence.

Changes to Forms

In our ongoing commitment towards improving our services to you Weapons Licensing will be introducing online interactive forms. The forms are currently under development and as they are released will be published on our website. What does this mean for you? You will be provided with an option to either type in your details by saving the form to your desktop or you can print and manually complete the form and return it to Weapons Licensing. Please note this is not an online form.
