We stayed for several nights. Staff was very friendly and helped us any way they could. Needed extra rollaway bed for extra person that went along unexpectedly. They accommodated us without any problem. Gave us directions to LAFB and other area attractions. Free coffee in lobby any time of the day. Nice breakfast in the morning. We would highly recommend this place for anyone attending their son or daughters basic training graduation.

Okay, I realize this is a Rodeway Inn; you should realize that too. Rodeways will never be known for "luxury."
If you are going to see your Airman graduate and you don't want to spend a ton of money but want a decent place to stay, this place is exactly where you need to stay!
The rooms are clean and well appointed; fridge, coffe machine, microwave, etc.
The price is decent. Remember there are soomething like 500 families a weekend coming to Lackland AFB and this make prices soar! Rodeway make their share but they don't get you as bad as other places that are not much better and charge $100 plus a night.

Also, its kind of off the T.I.'s map and the swimming pool, while small, is a great attraction to an aiman who wants to relax!

I have no problem staying in "cheap dives" as long as they are clean and friendly and that's how I would classify this place. It was the cheapest place we could find close to Lackland AFB for BMT graduation ceremonies. Literally it was just across the road from the base, 5 minute or less drive and about a 15 minute walk to the main gate (but the base is huge and walking really isn't an option). We were there for 4 nights and it was primarily other parents, like us, staying in a cheap place close to base. There is a VERY small pool, which new airmen CAN NOT USE and a very basic coffee and muffin type breakfast area. They do have a small laundry facility to use if needed but thats about it. If all you need is a place to sleep then this works as well as a more expensive hotel.
Yes it has a musty smell from the summer heat and humidity and there are a number of cosmetic issues I could pick on but for about $50 per night for 2 beds, mini fridge, microwave, iron and 24/7 air conditioning which bottoms out at 62 it was about as good as you can find. If I had to do it again I would, all our time was with our son traveling around San Antonio, we only slept here and it worked.

This clean, well maintained motel (yes, you drive up to your room) is a good deal for the money. Check in was smooth and the desk clerk was polite and knowledgeable about Lackland and the surrounding area. The room had 2 queen beds that were comfortable. The bathroom was clean but the towels are well worn and not very fluff - they really do need to upgrade the towels. The room had a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and hair dryer as advertised. The pool is small and could be cleaned a little more than it currently is. The "breakfast" is not very good. The exact something every morning. Coffee, tea, apple juice and coffee. Boxed donuts, old bread and a dirty toaster. The scrambled egg patty is something I have never heard of nor would try, the look is unappealing. 3 cereal choices and 2% milk. The soda machine is expensive ($1.00 for a 12 oz can) and the snack machine does nor work. As I said, no Ritz but agood place for the money.

My family (me, wife, two young daughters) came to town to visit my folks for the weekend. We had enough choice hotel points for two nights for this location and a few other Rodeway Inns or EconoLodges. We picked this one rather than the Econolodge down the road simply because we have never stayed at a Rodeway Inn.
So for the price (free) we were not disapointed. Room was not too big, but it did have a decent TV and a fridge and microwave. Room was clean and beds were comfy, although the sheets were very thin. Although the motel is close to the freeway (US 90) it was very quiet.
We were happy we picked this place rather than the Econolodge down the road because we discovered that the Econolodge pool was not open. The Rodeway pool was, however, and when traveling with young kids, a pool is a must. And this was a nice little pool-clean and shaded in some spots.
So, yeah, I would recommend the Rodeway Inn if you are in town for a brief stay and are on a budget.
We didn't try the breakfast but it looked to be typical of this type of motel. Oh- and the staff was very friendly.

After reading the reviews I was kind of worried but kept our reservations. It was better than expected. Super convenient to lackland afb. Price was affordable though I didn't know there was a 2 per day charge added in until we arrived and left my payment information. Being on a budget that would have been nice to know. The people were friendly and helpful at the desk. Have waffles the size and shape of texas for breakfast. Rooms were in better condition than I expected. Overall a good experience. Slept well.
