Queen forced to put aside IRA murder of Lord Mountbatten to meet McGuinness
The Queen was forced to put aside sad memories of the murder of her cousin the Earl of Mountbatten by the IRA to shake the hand of Martin McGuinness today.
Lord Mountbatten, a decorated Second World War veteran and the last Viceroy of the British Indian Empire, was killed in the blast on a family boating trip in 1979. He was 79
