Even though there is a lot of potential real danger for the brave astronauts circling Earth on the International Space Station, they obviously are not worried about the fictional threats facing Matt Damon in the upcoming “The Martian.”

Thanks to the publicity-savvy folks at 20th Century Fox, the current residents of the space station were treated to a special pre-opening screening of Ridley Scott’s new extraterrestrial thriller, based on Andy Weir’s novel.

Seems the space guys like these kinds of movies, considering they watched “Gravity,” starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, back in April.

Commenting on the whole “Martian” experience, astronaut Kjell Lindgren, who describes himself as a “space nerd in paradise, currently orbiting planet Earth on the International Space Station,” Lindgren tweeted, “Movie night! What a treat to watch #TheMartian while in space and see reflections of our own #JourneyToMars !”
