WEBSTER THE RIGHT CHOICE
Posted: March 30, 2009
|RON Webster has been named as the right-back in the Rams fans' all-time greats team.
He finished well clear of his rivals for the position in the supporters' poll.
Born in Belper, Webster played 535 times for Derby County and was the only local man in both the Rams' two League championship-winning teams in the 1970s.
He was a regular in the Derby County side for three seasons before Brian Clough breezed in along with Peter Taylor in 1967.
Webster was part of the Division Two championship side of 1968-9 before going on to experience further Rams glory.
John Atterbury, of Oakwood, had his name drawn from the many fans who voted for Webster and he will receive a signed Derby County shirt as his prize.
