Ms Naomi Castle OAM

A dual Olympian in Sydney (2000) and Athens (2004), and had the life-time highlight of winning a gold medal in front of friends and family in Sydney in the first appearance of women’s water polo in Olympic competition. A member of the Australian team from 1994-2004, she was vice-captain 1999-2000 and captain 2001-04, when they finished fourth in Athens. In 1999 and 2000 she was named the world’s No.1 centre back and included in the World All-Stars, and was included in the Team of the Tournament at the Sydney Olympics. She was chosen in the top 10 QAS Athletes of the Decade in 2001. Later coached in the Brisbane competition to pass her knowledge and experience on through the ranks and is still involved in the National League.
