Description |
Black Mountain forms an unusual geological feature in that it is completely composed of granite boulders. Its blackness is caused by a form of lichen covering the boulders. The mountain is almost devoid of other vegetation due to the absence of any soil development. Boulders form a habitat for the Queensland rock wallaby. Vegetation carried on the rest of the Park consists of eucalypt forest and gully scrubs with some scattered patches of deciduous vine thicket. Area forms one of only a few habitats in Queensland for ZYZOMYS ARGUNIS (common rock rat). |
