Akiba’s Trip 2 Announced For PS3 And Vita, Has Unison Strip System

By Spencer . August 27, 2013 . 6:52pm

image Acquire is developing a sequel to their Akihabara adventure game, Akiba’s Trip (pictured). Famitsu reports Akiba’s Trip 2 is in development for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Akiba’s Trip 2 is also set at the famous district in Japan and like the previous game it will have actual stores in Akihabara for players to visit. There will be over double the amount of real life stores in Akiba’s Trip 2.

Another change is the game gives you a partner character in the story. The magazine names two characters Shizuku Tokikaze (voiced by Sachika Misawa) and Toshiko Sagisaka (voiced by Chiwa Saito). The first game had a mechanic where you would strip vampire-like characters to expose them to the sun. Akiba’s Trip 2 has a new move called a Unison Strip.

Akiba’s Trip 2 comes out on November 7. Reservations include a heart pounding Tokyo hot springs story drama CD, special booklet, and costume DLC.

Wow, talk about coincidence. I happened to purchase the first game (collector’s edition) that was on sale last week. Guess I should take a break from FFXIV and see if I can finish it quickly.

      Who would localize this title?
      Aksys or Xseed?

Hold up, Sinobi says it’s PS3/PSV. Not PSV/PSP.

I actually played the original. It was… OK I guess. Combat was really primitive (you have low mid and high attacks, an unbreakable, guard and directional dodges, with 6 special super moves that were stupidly broken unlocked as you leveled up or did sidequests) and it was stupidly easy for both sides to get stuck in a corner and stunlocked to death. You were locked on to one enemy, but enemies actually attacked you all at once (despite the system never giving you any crowd control moves).

Sequels have made massive improvements on worse I guess.

    • Odin

It’s not the strip system that was interesting about the game. It was the whole concept. I’ve always wanted to play a game that really gave you the feeling of being in Akihabara (and without actually going there, ha). This one did it well. It’s kind of hard to explain, but the game felt cozy.

J-pop, a feeling of exploration (well not really explore…), and the small streets. The elements are all there. Oh, and Claris, heh.

      • Audie Bakerson

Atmosphere is great and all, but the gameplay needs to be good too.

        • Odin

I never found it too difficult in battles. I actually ended up using the 3 basic starting moves for the majority of the game.

And I wouldn’t expect Acquire to be really known for their ultra deep gameplay mechanics.

      • Kevadu

Unfortunately the streets of Akiba’s Trip were way too deserted to feel anything like Akihabara…

        • Odin

Let’s hope they fix that for the PS3/Vita? :P

And yes, you’re right in a way. I always wanted the game to be on the current gen consoles to leverage the feeling more. Guess it was granted.

Akiba’s Trip gives a different feeling than something like Yakuza, I’d say.

Hard to fight with crowded streets, yo. I’m sure it was a design choice as much as part of the PSP limitations.

I hope the story is a standalone in this one and are not too connected with the prequel because I really want this to get localized and want to enjoy the story without worrying about the prequel

  • leingod

Another cool sounding game we won’t get in the west :(

  • almostautumn

Since Senran Kagura has been localized I am, unfortunately, so so so so so so POSITIVE that this will be localized!
But for real; when I once would have laughed at a game whose “point” is to assault and molest random people into nudity— I mean, if there’s a game where you literally beat young girl’s clothes off than Akiba really doesn’t seem so far-fetched.

    Here I come, Xseed forums!

    • Renaldi Saputra

is this an RPG or an action game? if no, maybe XSeed isn’t the thing what you seek, maybe Aksys would be capable

      • Zarx

A bit of both. Xseed already localized a game developed by Acquire(Way of the Samurai 4) so there’s a small chance they’d get this one as well.

  • s07195

Hmmm, I wonder if the sequel’s story will be related to the first one… I mean, by any of the endings the war with the Kageyashi was over. Hopefully, the canon ending was the one with the girl. And hopefully we’ll see the first protagonist in this one.

    • DyLaN

May I have the story spoilers and ending details for the 1st game if you don’t mind?

      • s07195

*ENDING SPOILERS*So there are two factions in the game- the Kageyashi (vampires) and a secret intelligence service combating them. At the start of the game, you are saved from an attack by a Kageyashi by a Kageyashi girl named Rui, but at the cost of you becoming one yourself. You then get dragged off and are forced to help the Agents, who teach you to strip others.

Basically there are three endings, first one where you defeat the leader of the kageyashi (Rui’s mother) for the agents, second one where you join the kageyashi yourself and help defeat the agents (there are two variations for this ending), or finally you can take a third option and help Rui, working with Akihabara normal citizens to beat both forces and save the district (two variations). Obviously the best route (for me, at least.) and the protagonist and Rui seemingly gets together at the end for this ending.

I wish Japanese could just localized it on psn as download like way of the samurai 4

  • Göran Isacson

Union Strip. I admit that I have to laugh a little at that name. It sounds like a phenomenal name to call out with full sincerity and seriousness and utterly ruin any mood instantaneously. I suppose it’s essentially a faster strip since… well, you do it with a partner. One grabs the pants, the other the shirt! Co-op at it’s finest.
