Birth: | 1825, USA | Death: | 1843 Manhattan New York County (Manhattan) New York, USA | Indian princess. She was the 18 year old daughter of sac indian chief nan-nouce-rush-ee-toe. The group of indians had come to discuss a peace plan with the governor. The trip resulted in the marriage between the princess and iowa warrior cow-hick-hee. P.t. barnum noticed their popularity in new york and quickly offered them a job as an exhibit in his american museum. In doing their dances and ceremonies, they managed to charm everyone, and they became very popular. Sadly, the princess would live for only five weeks after her wedding. More than likely, a strain of some common germ, introduced by immigrant europeans was responsible. What began as a common cold ended tragically. In her short life and death, she actually did much to humanize her people in the view of at least a small segment of the white population.
