DENVER - Pat Bowlen had no idea of the trouble that lurked as he relaxed on a deck at the very private Bohemian Grove men's retreat north of San Francisco in July 1999.
The owner of the Denver Broncos was talking to the club member who had invited him - the man who sold him the football team 15 years earlier.
Trouble arrived with a quick turn of the tongue. Bowlen said he had offered a share of the team to former quarterback John Elway. He also said he had transferred some of the ownership to various family members over the years.
Edgar F. Kaiser Jr. found his opportunity.
Now he wants his football team back.
