'Step Up Revolution' Star Ryan Guzman in Talks for 'Boy Next Door' (Exclusive)

The Blumhouse thriller stars Jennifer Lopez as a woman who has an affair with her teenage neighbor.

Ryan Guzman is becoming the boy next door.  

The Step Up Revolution star is in negotiations for the titular role in The Boy Next Door, the Blumhouse thriller, which will star Jennifer Lopez and Kristin Chenoweth.

Rob Cohen will direct the microbudget movie, with Universal distributing as part of the studio's first-look deal with Jason Blum's production company. Blumhouse is producing with Smart Entertainment and Nuyorican Productions.

Guzman will play a teenage boy who lives next to Lopez's character. The woman, who was recently separated, finds herself attracted to the teen and embarks on an affair with him. Chenoweth will play Lopez's character's best friend. The film, with a script by Barbara Curry, is slated to begin shooting this fall.

Blum, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Benny Medina and John Jacobs are producing. Zac Unterman is serving as an executive producer.

Guzman recently appeared as Jake on ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars. He will reprise his role as Sean in the upcoming Step Up 5 and will also appear in the film Beyond Paradise. He's repped by Luber Roklin Entertainment and Stone, Meyer.

Blumhouse and Universal's last outing together, The Purge, was a major hit when it opened in theaters in June, earning more than $64 million domestically to date. Blumhouse's Insidious Chapter 2 also hit theaters this summer, scoring the second-best September opening weekend ever, with $40.3 million.
