Hustle, ABC, Saturday 9.10pm

There is an echo of the BBC's superlative spy drama Spooks in this brilliant series; not on the surface - this is a show with an unmistakeably brighter texture, despite the sometimes rough subject material - but in its rhythm, tone and intricacy. Hustle is, quite simply, a sexy, sexy show.

The target in this episode is a restaurant owner with some shady connections, Johnny Keyes (Stanley Townsend), who is anxious to learn the whereabouts of a son taken by gang rivals many years earlier.

"Don't shed one tear for him, my dear. The guy is a nasty piece of work," says Albert (Robert Vaughn), explaining why it's kosher to exploit such a tricky situation.

Enter Mickey (Adrian Lester) with the necessary - bogus - information, Danny (Marc Warren) as the supposed son and Stacie (Jaime Murray) as the son's girlfriend. The playout is compelling and, at times, even funny. The beauty of this series is in the fine line it walks between right and wrong, good and evil, light and dark.
