Place Cards

Place cards should always be handwritten, and the names kept brief, with honours, decorations, degrees, etc, omitted.

Peers are simply shown as The Duke of Montrose, The Marquess of Dorset, The Earl of Whitby or Lord Whyte, etc.

Privy counsellors are accorded the prefix 'The Rt Hon'.

Suffixes: Baronets are accorded the suffix Bt, and the suffixes RN, QC and MP are also given where appropriate.

Styles by office: Any office held should be omitted, except for those persons who may be indicated by their office instead of their name (for example The Swiss Ambassador, The Lord Mayor, etc).

Untitled gentlemen are invariably styled Mr in place of Esq.
