Something Old, Something New,
Something Borrowed, Something Blue...

Something old: this is traditionally a garter given to the bride by a happily married woman. Many brides opt for a piece of jewellery or a family heirloom such as a tiara.

Something new: this symbolises the newly-weds' happy and prosperous future. This can be anything from the dress or shoes to the veil or headpiece.

Something borrowed: the bride's family often lends an item such as jewellery. Alternatively, the chief bridesmaid may lend the bride something of hers. The bride must return the item after the wedding to ensure good luck.

Something blue: many brides choose a garter with a little bit of blue, such as a trimming or appliquéd flower. Alternatively, a piece of blue ribbon can be tied on to the bride's underwear.
