Birsinghpur is a City, a Nagar Palika and Tehshil in the Satna District in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India.

Demographics[edit]

As of 2014 India census,[1] Birsinghpur had a population of 200000. Males constituted 51.77% of the population and females 48.23%.

Etymology[edit]

Birsinghpur was the name of Satna "MAHARAJA VEERSINGH JOODEO" in the 19th century at a time when BNR (SATNA-AllAHABAD RLY) traffic started between Satna-Allahabad section in Feb-March 1891.

Geography[edit]

Birsinghpur is a Nagar Palika on Madhya Pradesh and a big tehseel of 250 villages known as PALI. The city area is 35 kilometres (22 mi) in East, 32 kilometres (20 mi) is West, 32 kilometres (20 mi) North and 28 kilometres (17 mi) South. Birsinghpur is situated on the Shahdol-Katni road (NH-78), at a distance of about 30 kilometres (19 mi) from Shahdol and 85 kilometres (53 mi) from Katni. Another road goes from Birsinghpur to Dindori and Jabalpur via Mandala at a distance of about 70 kilometres (43 mi). Another road goes from Birsinghpur to Rewa via Bandhavgarh road as of 2014. Birsinghpur has a historic temple of lord Mata Kali known as Maa BIRASINI Which Is made on 10th century due to mata sati Burn

Health[edit]

There is a 30 bed government hospital in Birsinghpur. The nearest airport is in Jabalpur. There is also a Government Degree College in Birsinghpur.
