Description: Jim Jones - joins Canadian pro league. Former Lincoln High School standout and University of Washington co-captain Jim Jones took a handoff from ex-Husky Bob Schloredt while practicing for the Seafair Pro football game to be held at Husky Stadium in late July of 1961. Both men had been selected by the Vancouver, B.C. Columbia Lion team in the Canadian Pro League. Fullback James Ray (Jim) Jones had previously been a third-round draft pick of the Los Angeles Rams in December of 1957 and had seen action with the Rams. At a time when specialization was uncommon, he was able to utilize his skills in both offensive and defensive positions. 6'1" and 190+ pounds, Jim Jones played with determination and continued effort. He passed away on October 5, 1982 after a scuba-diving accident near Seattle. He was 47 years old and an insurance agent for Allstate. (TNT 7-23-1961; TNT 10-8-1982-obit.; TNT 10-13-1982-article)
