Prime Minister Announces Date for General Elections

Tonight Belize’s House of Representatives has been dissolved by the Governor General, His Excellency Sir Colville Young … and in thirty six days, the country’s electorate will be going to the polls to elect thirty one Area Representatives.  A recording of a statement by Prime Minister Dean Barrow was released to the media today in which he stated that General Elections will be in early November 2015.

“Accordingly, I have today advised the Governor General to dissolve the National Assembly and to fix Wednesday November 4, 2015 as the date for the next general elections, with Friday October 16 being Nomination Day.”
