Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am honored to serve as a member of the National Rifle Association Board of Directors
but I need your help to be re-elected and finish the work we have started. I'm
building this web site to highlight the reasons I am asking for your support and to
point out some of the accomplishments achieved through hard work and cooperation between the media, the
NRA and the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association.
New York is the media capital of the world and as the media goes so goes
the nation. We have made progress in forging strong allegiances with some of the major
media outlets. Favorable articles appear in the New York Post, The Wall Street Journal, The New
York Sun and on occasion the "Old Gray Lady" herself The New York Times. The importance
of media influence can not be underestimated, remember as Bill Clinton proved, perception is reality.
We have exposed Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand as a fraud regarding her 2nd Amendment beliefs, we have
exposed Chuck Schumer's attempt to portray himself as a friend of the hunter and shooter.
We have attacked Mayor Bloomberg's attempt to export his gun control scheme nationwide and labeled it
as extortion of the small FFL dealer who is unable to defend himself. Most importantly we
have labeled Hillary Clinton as a Carpet Bagger, a carpet bagger who has done nothing but
attempt to build her image at the expense of New York State and the Nation.
Since 2000, we have stopped all anti-gun and anti-hunting legislation. Helped pass national legislation protecting
firearms manufacturers, legislation that protects your
firearms from confiscation during times of national emergency and allows police officers to carry anywhere in the nation.
In 2002 with the help of the
Wall Street Journal we won the battle against Gov. George Pataki and reinstated the shooting sports
in the Empire State Games. In 2004 & 2009 with
the help of the NRA-ILA, the media and the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association's
statewide email alert system we defeated proposed legislation for statewide renewable pistol licenses and increased fees.
In 2006-2007 with the help of NRA-ILA, we were successful in passing legislation allowing 14-21
year olds to practice and compete with handguns under the supervision of an NRA instructor, parent
or guardian and instituted a Youth Mentor Hunting Program that lowered the big game hunting age
to 14. We have successfully elected pro-gun candidates to state/ local offices, national office and removed
anti-gun incumbents. We no longer are satisfied with considering blocking bad legislation as a victory,
at a 2nd Amendment Rally at the State Capital attended by 2,000 NYS gun owners we
went on the offensive. Both Wayne LaPierre and I declared a new era in which a
proactive ambitious pro gun agenda will be announced. In the coming months we will be proposing
more pro-gun legislation that will repeal onerous laws while expanding the right to concealed carry.
My support of the Second Amendment is absolute and not negotiable. I believe that every
law-abiding citizen of the United States has the right to keep and bear the firearm of
his choice wherever and whenever he chooses.
Please support me in my re-election campaign.
Thank you,
Tom King
