Developing Communities Project (DCP) is a 25-year old, faith-based organization serving Chicago’s far South Side Greater Roseland Community Areas. Developing Communities Project’s mission is to develop leadership and organizing skills among local community residents, members, and leaders of churches and other institutions to solve neighborhood problems and to improve the quality of life in Greater Roseland. We have a major organizing campaign that wants to extend the Chicago Transit Authority Red Line to and through the community so that over 130,000 residents, 31% in poverty, can access jobs in other parts of the city and the area will be strengthened economically through transit-linked development. DCP has helped in moving the Red Line Extension plan to the Environmental Impact Statement process, youth violence prevention, and negotiating with Governor Quinn to designate the 111th Street as a “Medical District.”
