Microsoft Unveils the Surface Pro 4 With a 12.3-inch Display, Starts at $899

The Surface line-up of hybrid tablet has been one of the flagship devices for Microsoft since its very first launch. It was a device that people started loving ever since they first used it. Windows worked perfectly fine on it and it is one of the slimmest and one of the most powerful tablet and a laptop replacement one could buy.

Today, Microsoft has officially launched the Surface Pro 4 which brings several new improvements over its predecessor both in terms of hardware as well as design. This new tablet comes with a 12.3-inch display along with an Intel 6th Gen Core processor and the keyboard sports an optional fingerprint reader along with a glass touchpad which is definitely an improvement.

Surface Pen

Microsoft has also works on improving the performance of the touchscreen as well as the Surface Pen. The new pen can support 1024 levels of pressure that means it will be able to do various different kind of strokes at once. It comes with an added eraser and five different colors. The tips are interchangeable and all of them give a different feel during use.

The Pen can be attached to the tablet on the left side magnetically.

Surface Type Cover

The new Type Cover is also a great new component to focus on. This Type Cover is backwards compatible that means it will be compatible to Surface Pro 3 as well. The new keys provide you a more silent typing experience and there is a gap of 19mm between each key that will make your typing experience better.

The new touchpad on the Type Cover is about 40% larger and has a glass surface to it which makes it easy and better to use.

Specifications

When it comes to specifications, this tablet comes with a new Intel 6th Generation Skylake CPU along with options to have up to 16 GB RAM. It runs on latest Windows 10 along with all the new features and you can have up to 1 TB storage on the device. According to Microsoft, Surface Pro 4 is 50% faster than Macbook Air and 30% faster than Surface Pro 3.

The display is covered by a Gorilla Glass and it is powered by a “G5” chipset that provides you a very interactive Pen experience. The screen has a resolution of 2736 x 1824-pixel and looks really great. The bezel around the display is really thin which adds up to the beauty of the display.

Microsoft claims that this device will give you a 9 hours battery backup which sounds good when keep the specification in mind.

It comes with 5.0 MP front-facing HD camera and an 8.0 MP rear-facing autofocus camera, with 1080p HD video recording.

All in all this is a great new update to the Surface Pro line-up and people will be looking forward to have this as their full usage device. The device is available for pre-order from 7th October for $899 and it will go on sale from 26th October.
