How do you make up for a massive computer glitch that inconvenienced thousands of your customers? Offer a huge sale. Southwest is holding a flash sale offering flights for as low as $44 one-way.
The reduced fares are offered on dozens of nonstop domestic flights — mostly from Dec. 2 through Dec. 16 and Jan. 5 through Feb. 10. Flights on Fridays and Sundays are excluded, however.
The promotion, which comes on the heels of massive delays caused by a nationwide computer glitch, includes a boatload of $49 one-way flights from Baltimore-Washington International Airport, including the following destination cities:
Albany, New York
Boston Logan Airport
Buffalo/Niagara, New York
Charlotte, North Carolina
Cleveland
Columbus, Ohio
Dayton, Ohio
Detroit
Flint, Michigan
Greenville/Spartanburg, South Carolina
Hartford, Connecticut
Long Island/Islip, New York
Louisville, Kentucky
Manchester, New Hampshire
Norfolk, Virginia
Pittsburgh
Providence, Rhode Island
Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina
Rochester, New York
The fares appear to be priced by distance, similar to promotions the airline has offered in the past. Bargain hunters will have to act fast: the sale ends Thursday at the end of the day, meaning tickets must be purchased by 11:59 p.m. in the originating city.
