  • The building was built in exactly 300 days.
  • Office floors were designed with moving partitions.
  • Ornamental detail is carried inside the lobby and all elevator lobbies.
  • The top portion of the building's facade is decorated in sepia-glazed terra cotta with blue-green cast concrete spandrels and abstracted shell designs in reference to the building's owner.
  • Sanborn heights: 301 feet to floor 23, 352 feet to floor 27, 376 feet to top of floor 29.
  • Shell Oil Company, the building's namesake, ultimately vacated the building during the 1960s.
  • The two-story mezzanine lobby entrance features bronze doors, marble walls, and a sweeping 25-foot-high ceiling.
