Smackdown: Edge pops the question
By ANDY MCNAMARA -- SLAM! Wrestling

No Way Out is this Sunday and Elimination Chamber participants are paired up this evening. Batista and MVP start off the program strong with an impressive blend of speed and power. Although Finlay vs. The Great Khali is the main event; keep an eye out for the sleeper match of the night between CM Punk/Kane and Chavo Guerrero/Shelton Benjamin. The Rated R Superstar also has a life changing proposition for his soul mate and general manager Vickie Guerrero. An action packed episode of Smackdown is coming at you right about ... now!

Match 1: Batista vs. MVP

MVP is in control and dare I say dominating for a good portion of this match, and puts things even more in his control with a running kick to the head. Batista nails a spinebuster, but MVP wiggles out of the Batista Bomb and is able to isolate The Animal in the corner. MVP rushes in for the kill but is caught by a ferocious spear, and this time the U.S. champion cannot escape from the Batista Bomb.

WINNER: Batista

Match 2: Edge Heads (Zach Ryder & Curt Hawkins) & Deuce & Domino w/ Cherry vs. Shannon Moore & Jimmy Wang Yang vs. Jesse & Festus

Festus snaps when the bell rings and grabs Ryder from behind to lay an early beating. Ryder then gets worked over by Jesse and Shannon Moore before he is able to tag into his partner Hawkins. The trouble with multi person tag bouts is that quite often they turn into sloppy messes and miscommunications; however, all participants are working very smoothly together. Out of nowhere Yang tags Deuce with that beautiful top rope moonsault for the quick three count. The Edge Heads and Deuce and Domino start pounding on Moore and Yang when Jesse rings the bell again to send Festus into a ring clearing rampage.

WINNER: Shannon Moore, Jimmy Wang Yang, Jesse, Festus

Backstage Vickie Guerrero is getting make-up applied, hoping that Edge will propose to her tonight.

Match 3: Victoria vs. Michelle McCool

McCool’s in-ring skills continue to improve and being in their with a quality veteran like Victoria doesn’t hurt either. Chuck Palumbo rides down on his motorcycle at the beginning of the match. Palumbo distracts Michelle throughout, which eventually gives Victoria the chance to hit the widow’s peak for a 1-2-3. Palumbo then gets on the mic and tells Michelle that she better get used to him beating up Jamie Noble.

WINNER: Victoria

Match 4: The Undertaker vs. Big Daddy V

I guess the good news for The Undertaker is that he is getting these awful matches against Mark Henry and Big Daddy V out of the way prior to WrestleMania. V is able to get in some power blows with Taker battling back and connecting with a DDT for the victory. Not too much to this one. Striker is then caught in the ring receiving a chokeslam, and the leg choke out submission for his trouble. EMTs then come down and stretcher out Striker who is bleeding from his mouth.

WINNER: The Undertaker

Match 5: CM Punk & Kane vs. Chavo Guerrero & Shelton Benjamin

CM Punk’s unique style is so refreshing and hopefully the WWE push machine really gets behind him. Kane displays his power in the opening moments by gorilla pressing Chavo. Benjamin and Punk speed up this contest with Shelton connecting with a crisp over the head belly-to-belly suplex. Both teams trade momentum often, in what has been the sleeper match of the night. Punk and Guerrero really mesh well together, CM nails the Go To Sleep to win it for his team.

WINNERS: CM Punk & Kane

Match 6: Finlay w/ Hornswaggle vs. The Great Khali w/ Ranjin Singh

Truly a David vs. Goliath contest starts out slowly with Finlay trying to figure out how to chip away at the big man. The Irishman attempts a shoulder tackle, but simply bounces off of Khali. The giant puts the boots to Finlay in the corner and continues the punishment outside the ring. Hornswaggle eventually is cornered by Khali, which allows Finlay to smash his foe twice with the shillelagh when the ref's back is turned. Amazingly the Irishman picks up the pinfall on his Elimination Chamber opponent.

WINNER: Finlay

Vickie Guerrero is pushed out by Theodore Long, all dressed up to a ring that is filled with balloons, flowers, and a white heart in the middle. A symphony band appears to play out Edge who serenades Vickie with some terribly sung lyrics. He then proposes, Vickie says yes, Edge gives her a ring, and the two sloppily make out. Rey Mysterio comes down and says that he is disgusted with Vickie and that she puts shame to the Guerrero name. Edge orders Rey to apologize, but attacks Mysterio when he enters the squared circle. Rey connects with the 619, however, The Rated R Superstar ducks away from the seated senton and Mysterio smacks into Vickie! Rey surprisingly seems unaffected by his mistake and Vickie is put on a stretcher to end the show.
