Trillion: God of Destruction

Idea Factory International is bringing Trillion: God of Destruction, released as Makai Shin Trillion in Japan, to PS Vita in North America and Europe via physical and digital in spring 2016, the publisher announced.

The strategy RPG puts players in the role of Zeabolos, who must strategically battle against a god with a trillion HP! You’ll have six Overlord candidates at your disposal, and through training, forging strong bonds, and making painful sacrifices, you must work to stop Trillion from consuming the Underworld.

Here’s the full rundown, via Idea Factory:

About

More than a thousand years passed since the legendary battle against the Heavens. The demons of the Underworld lived an evil, yet fulfilling life in peace. And so it remained, until the appearance of Trillion, a demon god of destruction that sought to consume the world.

Its power unfathomable, it destroyed the Underworld’s forces. Even Zeabolos, the Great Overlord himself, was defeated.

On the brink of death, Zeabolos heard a mysterious voice from deep within. “It is too early yet for the lineage of the Great Overlord to fall…” Zeabolos was revived, his shambled body patched together again by a young necromancer named Faust.

Zeabolos gained the power of the Soul Grimoire, and decided henceforth to fight.

    VITA MEANS LIFE (◕‿◕✿)

    WE DID IT BROS

  • ayanami-chan

Nice, nice, is the game any good?

    • mrgrgr!

Based on import impressions it was great and unique VN SRPG

      • Zizal

It has roguelike gameplay not SRPG.

        • mrgrgr!

Isnt Rogue a SRPG? (Tactical RPG)

          • Zackasaur

No. SRPGs range from classics like FF Tactics and Fire Emblem to variations as far as Valkyria Chronicles and Code Name STEAM.

They’re about playing a turn-based RPG with the premise that restricted movement around a map/board is part of the combat “simulation.”

In Japan, SRPG means Simulation RPG. That is often read as Strategy RPG in the west, but the idea is the same.

            • Aluja

So how does this work exactly?

              • TheSwordUser

Princess Maker meets simplified Mystery Dungeon

                • Aluja

I’ll have to disappoint you and say, I’ve never played or seen gameplay of those games you mentioned.

                  • SirRichard

Mystery Dungeon is a series where you creep through randomly generated dungeons on a grid, moving around floors and picking stuff up/slapping enemies who walk up to you.

Princess Maker’s a raising simulator where you play parent to a girl, deciding her weekly schedule of jobs, lessons, activities and stuff to build stats and have her develop a certain way, lot of focus on time management and planning.

Guess you could’ve googled them in the meantime, but hey, there’s it in text.

                    • Aluja

Sorry and thanks, I did look at gameplay though.

But your explanation is much better.

              • Zackasaur

That Princess Maker x Mystery Dungeon statement is quite accurate!

It’s not wrong to say that this game has SRPG aspects, though. It just adds those aspects to a relatively simple roguelike system, which is already coupled with the scheduling/raising/bonding aspects.

So this is an SRPG the way God of War is an RPG. It has elements, but those elements don’t define the experience.

  • Jinathin

Idea Factory with their localization, with physical.

My wallet will be open for day 1.

This is how you do localization

  • Fighunter

    Sweet! Wow that was fast!
However, people should know in advance, this is more VN and roguelike than RPG. Expect tons and tons of dialogue.
It kinda plays like ZHP which, considering the team who made it, is pretty appropriate.

    • Aluja

Is it good dialogue or the same nonsensical stuff from Disgaea?

And I don’t particularly have high standards, if it’s along the lines of Agarest then all is good.

      • Fighunter

Well, there’s a couple skits but this isn’t as 4th wall breaking as Disgaea or Neptunia.
It’s more or less about a family/household suffering through a big incident, and there’s a lot of bonding stuff, but mostly between the main character and the rest.

        • Aluja

          ooh~ Nice, I’m in.

    • Platinal

Is there anything that could get censored for localization?

      • Zizal

Lolis in hot spring and I think there is some other stuff. Let’s hope they learned their lesson after MM release and won’t black mail the fans again.

        • Platinal

Well, that instantly killed my hope.

At least savvy devs are releasing uncensored english versions of their games in the Asia region for us to import.

          Lookin’ at you, Compile Heart.

        • DrForbidden

          What is MM?

          • Zizal

            Monster Monpiece.

            • DrForbidden

              Ah. Thanks.

  • Sunny11

The Diagaea 4 director is working on this, nice

    • Aluja

Does that mean it will have a nonsensical story?

      • Sunny11

        Maybe

  • SatsukiYumizuka

Awesome, this is the IF game i wanted most.
Crossing my fingers for date a live and Seha girls next.

  • Budgiecat

6 Deadly Sins to Love! In between battles, you’ll get some quality alone time with each of your six Overlord Candidates leading your army. Can you have a love story even in war?

of course they’d throw this in :p

    • mrgrgr!

Well its not like you think… Can’t give any details without spoiling the game..

      • Fighunter

Let’s just say it’s sweet familial love?

        • mrgrgr!

          No

          • Fighunter

Yeah uh no. I wasn’t being sarcastic or anything.

            • mrgrgr!

              Yea sorry about that haha!

  • DarthBrian

    Based Idea Factory. <3

  • Traingham

I always imagine a game with Disgaea’s art style brought to fully realized 3D. Could this be it?

    • Manny Being Manny

as much as Mugen Souls was. Same artist for both games

  • Phelan

Makai Shin Trillion coming west with physical edition…

    *gasp*
    *standing ovation*

  • Dammage

Well then, that knocks it out as being a PS Experience announcement. I guess that’s going to be nep nep and Fairy Fencer all the way

  • Loricifera

    YAAAAAAAAASSSSS!!!
    er.. I mean, yes.

  • The Grim Heaper

I’d love to get it day 1 but I’m definitely gonna wait until I see how the script is/who’s working on it.

    • mrgrgr!

MR tired media is working in his own game (is this the team you want to avoid)?

  • https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEEpx5ZY5VAENROeMiIfWqQ TheMysticJira

Is this one of those two games Idea Factory mentioned?

    • mrgrgr!

Prolly is base on newsletter its one of the games playable at PSX but no one knows if they would reveal none playable games there

    • http://myanimelist.net/profile/NeoHorizon Adam Alvar

From their facebook page, they said “This is not part of our Press Event announcements” I don’t think they’ll announced those two games until after the event.

      • mrgrgr!

Oh good! i was worried were down to one as they list this as a playable at PSX together with Nep VI and a Unannounced title

      • https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEEpx5ZY5VAENROeMiIfWqQ TheMysticJira

That’s good! More games for us then! :D
Although I wonder what those two will be, any thoughts?

        • http://myanimelist.net/profile/NeoHorizon Adam Alvar

Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force is most likely one of them. For the other one, it could be Tag Blanc + Neptune (already out in Japan) but I’m hoping its Date a Live or Gal Gun :3

          • https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEEpx5ZY5VAENROeMiIfWqQ TheMysticJira

I doubt Date a Live will ever be localized :(

    • Revyatheworldeater .

As per their newsletter it sounds like this is one

“Visit our booth #1140 to try some hands-on demos of:
      Megadimension Neptunia VII (PS4)
Trillion: God of Destruction (PS Vita)
Unannounced title (TBA after our Press Event)”

  • estebxx

awesome news, ive been waiting for this since it was announced.

  • Aluja

So the other question is, dub or sub only?

    • https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEEpx5ZY5VAENROeMiIfWqQ TheMysticJira

Dub I think like they did with Tails of Cold Steel

      • Mozendo

Huh? Idea Factory didn’t touch Cold Steel and they mostly do dual audio if not always

      • ayanami-chan

Really? Cool sounds like a day one for both. I like dubing cuz it shows a little extra care. It’s so easy to slap on some subtitles (ahem SAO:HF…)

        • mrgrgr!

No idea why Bandai Namco choose to sub only release SAO games. Toonami Airs the dub one and sales in NA was great base on their press release

          • awvnx

VA for dubbed anime and games are sometimes different. There might be VA union issues with using the same ones, and a game has significantly more dialog, especially a JRPG.

            • mrgrgr!

bryce / chermi / patrick sietz isnt union as far as I know. So most likely the anime isnt union dubbed. Correct me if im wrong though

      • Delicious Fried Chocobo

erm If intl has nothing to do with cold steel thats all xseed and falcom

    • mrgrgr!

Most likely dual audio.. With JPN voices as Free DLC

      • estebxx

        hope thats the case

      • An Tran

The JP voices being DLC would only happen if they can’t fit it in the cart.

    • MrKappa

Knowing this company I’m betting dual audio… I just hope they don’t offer up a half assed partial dub because of keeping the Japanese track ate their budget.

    • Dinoegg96

It’s already confirmed that it will have japanese and english VA, check the website:
      http://ideafintl.com/trillion/

  • Delicious Fried Chocobo

nice now i’ll think PS exp will still be FFF adf and a neptune title or meiq but i doubt it meiq since it isnt out in jpn at the time.
lol maybe its amnesia later x crowd vita port the fandiscs of amnesia.

  • An Tran

AWESOME! Can’t wait to play this game. Guessing that takes it off the potential PSX announcements list. More chances for more Nep :D

  • Fooey

So they can afford physical and digital while Digimon and Fatal Frame can’t.

Good for IF, I’ll check this one out

    • Sneeze

Pal that ain’t the problem, the market became really weird in the last few years, mobile developers aiming PC digital, PC digital indies aiming console and portable physical and big name corporations aiming mobile market.
More ridiculous than all of this is the fact big name corporations are the only ones screaming that mobile is the future even thought mobile companies are running away from the market.

      • Unretributed

So…. what does any of that have to do with NoA and Namco being stupid doo-doo heads and smaller companies going all in for their fanbases? Lol

        • Sneeze

Well, big companies wants to use less money possible and profit the largest amount possible, they believe mobile is this “perfect” future, that’s the giant shift in business in Japan, however several developers doesn’t agree with that, not only developers consumers too, but companies wants to force the shift to happen while nobody wants.

This is the reason NoA and Namco are “stupid doo-doo heads” they believe in this shift to mobile so much that they don’t think certain games will sell here and give up before even trying, they forget that sometimes the best ain’t be successful, but create a gateway for the next one be successful enough to cover both, its the reality behind Xenoblade, it didn’t sold much, but the knowledge of gamers that Xenoblade spiritual sequel will be localized is driving a lot of people to save money to buy a Wii U.

    • http://resettears.wordpress.com/ Reset Tears

Game localization treatments have done a bizarre flip in the past 10 or so years — in the old days it was the niche stuff that we’d sadly never get to see localized; nowdays it’s the smaller developers that make an effort to go all-out for their fans, while bigger developers are afraid of taking risks.

    • Bianca Ann Saracino

Really wish Amnesia got a physical edition =/ Since it was their first VN maybe they thought it wouldn’t sell enough to warrant one so I hope it sold well enough that if they license another VN that it gets a physical release.

  • SpermPellets

    Definitely getting this game.

  • Rakan

    God of Destruction, eh…
    Beerus cameo confirmed.

  • greenreaper

“Can you have a love story even in war?”
That reminds me of a certain quote from Otacon.

    • Tatsuya Suou

this is how hal and dave shipping starts

      • DrForbidden

        Dave Bowman:
Open your pod bay doors, HAL.

        HAL:
        I’m sorry, Dave. I’m afraid I can’t do that.

        Dave Bowman:
        What’s the problem?

        HAL:
I think you know what the problem is just as well as I do.

        Dave Bowman:
I don’t know what you’re talking about, HAL.

        HAL:
I know that you and Frank are having an affair, and I’m afraid that’s something I cannot allow to happen.

        Dave Bowman:
Where the hell did you get that idea, HAL?

        HAL:
Dave, although you took very thorough precautions in the pod against my hearing you, I could see your hips move.

        Dave Bowman:
Alright, HAL. I’ll go in through the emergency airlock.

        HAL:
Just what do you think you’re doing, Dave? Dave, stop. Stop, will you? Stop, Dave. Will you stop Dave? Stop, Dave.

  • Yaro

Wait, its getting PHYSICAL release in EU?! Well damn, now im double hyped for this!

    • Uvers BISHONEN OF THE OBVIOUS

IF international has done a pretty damn good job of releasing physical copies in Europe after neptunia rebirth 1 was Digital only

      • DrForbidden

They’ve been pretty great about releasing physical Vita games in the US as well. I’m not a big fan of CH games, but I’m inclined to support them at least a little because of that.

  • Tatsuya Suou

iF is the physical king handsdown

  • Martian Wong

    When is preorder up?

  • DrForbidden

Great news. So I guess this game isn’t one of those they’re announcing in December at SF.
