A glass house reaching for the sky

Skyhouse is the story of one man's vision for an abode of great spirit, realised almost single-handedly. Graeme Hodges imagined a house inspired by the giant trees that are so famous in this region; a house that could offer windows onto wildlife, not just at ground level, but all the way up into the tree canopy.

The awesome result is a glass house on multiple levels that reaches toward the treetops and places you in the midst of nature's show. Graeme's lifelong yoga practice hints at a possible source of his inspiration: Skyhouse has the upright majesty of the Vrksasana yoga posture (the inspirational pose of the tree) with all the calm and assuredness this brings.

On each level, 360-degree views through glass walls draw in nature. Whether you are lying in bed, relaxing in the lounge, cooking, dining or bathing, the outlook is different and captivating. Shafts of light through the tree canopy illuminate Skyhouse and in a wild tempest you are safe and warm, yet see it all happen. There is even a viewing deck with an outlook to forests and other interesting homes in the hamlet.

Guests can join Graeme's yoga classes a walk away, slip to Denmark for coffee, discover amazing beaches, fish and canoe and walk the Bibbulmun Track – turn right for Perth, left for Albany.
