Management School awarded international accreditation

The Management School was established in 2002, and now works with almost 2,000 students at undergraduate and postgraduate level

The University of Liverpool’s Management School has been recognised by one of the world’s leading business school accreditation organisations – the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

The University joins an elite group of institutions that have achieved business accreditation from the AACSB.  A total of 666 business schools in 45 countries, or around five per cent worldwide, have been awarded the accreditation.

A global leader

Professor Murray Dalziel, Director of the University’s Management School, said: “AACSB accreditation places the Management School among the world’s best. A global leader in management and leadership training, education and research, the School is a place where students, academics and organisations come together to develop and share advanced management practice.

“We enable our students to become more than good managers and great leaders – our programmes equip them with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to make a significant contribution in their roles and in the long-term to play a part in solving some of the most endemic problems faced by individuals, companies and communities.

“We produce graduates of outstanding potential who are able to operate in the most demanding of global business environments and are truly committed to making a difference.”

AACSB Accreditation Standards require a high quality teaching environment, a commitment to continuous improvement, and curricula responsive to the needs of businesses. Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer bachelors, masters, and doctorate degrees in business and accounting.

John J. Fernandes, president and chief executive officer of AACSB International, said: “We warmly congratulate the University of Liverpool and welcome it into the AACSB family of internationally accredited business schools.

“AACSB Accreditation represents the highest achievement for an educational institution and its college of business. The University of Liverpool’s Management School staff are to be commended for their dedication and commitment to continuous improvement, and for their role in earning initial accreditation.

Dedication to management education

“It takes a great deal of self evaluation and determination to earn AACSB Accreditation, and I commend the University of Liverpool for its dedication to management education, as well as its leadership in the community.

“Through accreditation, the University of Liverpool has not only met specific standards of excellence, but has also made a commitment to ongoing improvement to ensure that the institution will continue to deliver high quality education to its students.”

The University’s Management School offers a range of programmes aligned to its research strengths which include Economics; Finance and Accounting; Marketing and Operations; and Organisation and Management. A significant number of postgraduate programmes are provided online in the areas of finance and marketing, supply chain management and business administration.

The University of Liverpool has offered online degrees in partnership with Laureate Online Education since 2004 and is the largest provider of wholly online degrees in Europe.
