We are delighted to announce that we have been crowned as Building Services Consultancy of the Year (under 100 employees) for the second year running at the CIBSE Building Performance Awards 2015.

The prestigious black-tie ceremony was held at the Grosvenor House in London last night and recognised excellence within the Building Services arena.

Retaining the award for a second year ascertains our place as the best firm of our kind in the country and highlights our positive contribution to the industry.

The judges acknowledged how we make an outstanding contribution to the design / refurbishment of buildings to meet client expectations of performance, including occupant satisfaction, comfort and energy performance, throughout the operating life. They were impressed with our low carbon work on a number of projects, and noted: “One of BCM’s exemplar projects is Seashell Trust’s residential and education campus in Stockport. The consultancy designed an innovative energy centre that combines gas-fired boilers with a solar thermal installation. This provided heating and domestic hot water to residential and educational buildings via a site-wide district heating network. Using dynamic simulation modelling, BCM advised the design team on elements such as fabric efficiencies, insulation levels and thermal mass to develop highly efficient buildings and mechanical and electrical services using a fabric-first approach. The project now benefits from a 23% carbon emissions reduction, saving £21k per annum in running costs.”

Our continual investment in training and development played a vital part in the win. Judges praised our e-MPDS programme, run under the auspices of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), and how members of our team are trained as CIBSE Low Carbon Consultants. Our KTP with Liverpool John Moores University was also highlighted as innovative good practice.

BCM’s Managing Director, Brian Morris, said:  “We are overwhelmed to have achieved this accolade for the second year running. Since winning the award last year we have had an incredible 12 months in terms of growth, business wins, and key strategic developments, which we will of course continue to build on. This is our fourth award win in just over a year and the ongoing recognition we’re receiving highlights us as leaders in our field who are moving the industry forward with an innovative approach to delivering low carbon solutions as standard.”
