wow. that's _brilliant_. and kudos to the mom for her response (not just the calling him a little shit, but the other stuff she did).

i had no idea so many of the rape threats were from boys that young, but it kinda makes sense - they are just starting to work out the whole sex thing. and clearly a lot of them have a lot to learn - and this is the prime time to teach them.

Monkey has realized exactly what level of hypocrite the people remaining on this forum are behaving like.

Monkey has spent years being a complete asshole to folks and getting cheered on and excused "because its funny or witty" but really its because he's being a complete asshole to people folks here don't like or disagree with.

Monkey is stunned that there was the kind of scolding and shaming about a dudes shirt here, while Gary referred to a lady as "Tits McGee" for months without comment. (I still love Gary)

Monkey is shocked at all the "I miss Agamemnon" commentary when while the poor schmo was here playing token conservative any time he espoused those views the entire forum came crashing down on him like a ton of bricks and dogpiled him into an exhausted "whatever fine" attitude about it.

Monkey is annoyed as fuck at the attitude of anything we disagree with requires documented and scientifically cited evidence while watching you all gobble down whatever trashy article supports your points of view without a shred of critical thought toward it.

So here we go. The person behind that storify has been lurking the twitter hashtag since the get-go, signal boosting the stupidest tweets, retweeting segments of conversation out of context to "win" the pr battle.

When mindslicer brings up theories with this kind of lack of sourcing and tortured logic he's laughed off the forum, but because you already want to believe the worst you're willing to swallow it whole no questions asked, because purple and green aren't totally part of mardi gras, dont have an urban dictionary entry from almost 2 years ago that supports the idea of men and women getting along and I totally didn't have a shirt that looked exactly like that as a teenager. Rape joke makes a way better story.

Tarring an entire movement based on the behavior of a few bad actors cuts both ways though, and its not an intellectually honest thing to do. The attitudes and behaviors here in this thread are the reason i've watched people seriously discussing industry blacklists like it was the 50's, why i've seen a video of Adam Sessler and Jim Sterling talking about how it was ok to dox people, as long as they were being homophobic or sexist to thunderous applause from the audience. That's a thing i've not seen in months of lurking around the hashtag or any public area were this whole thing is discussed. I've seen it brought up and be thunderously shouted down and the person who did so be mass reported to moderation.

In short, monkey seems different because this particular forum seems more like a Tumblr mob lately than the sinfest forum. Some day y'all are going to look back and wonder why its only the same half dozen people posting in anything but the comic forum and wonder why.

I'm sorry, but that corelist of boards doesn't really scream "testosterone overdose" or that the Gamergaters give a shit about perceived masculinity in regard to their interests, which goes against the Narrative that anti-GG is pushing. They actually seem more diverse and even feminist in their ideals than the core *chan group that they split away from.
