A pleasant downtown walk this afternoon. Visited Jogye temple. Forgot that one of the protest leaders is holed up there. Lots of police at all the entrances/exits. Kyobo bookstore is under going another remake. Most notable is softer lighting away form the glare of fluorescents and more seats to check out that book before you go buy it online. Solstice/Christmas lights going up all around. Should be a colorful evening walk soon enough. And Myeongdong packed to the gills with tourists and locals. Food carts have replaced all the trinkets and novelty carts. Overall a good stretch to the legs.

I wonder if koreans know or care that all this cutesy stuff packaged for adult children might also appeal to actual children.

I wonder if Koreans realize that drinking soju is not like drinking water.

True, however there are other doll figures that are collected by adults here, so this sort of figure is still not an exception.
It is not a good idea to use this for liquor packaging for that same reason.

This is proof that we live in a truly wicked world:
I thought that RMB would be a bad choice for reserve currency status after the two sudden devaluations this summer. The NYT article notes them but in a confusing way:
“To meet the I.M.F. requirements, China was forced to give up some of its tight control over the currency, culminating in the abrupt devaluation of the renminbi that shook global markets in August. The changes could inject fresh volatility into the country, at a time when its economy is already slowing.”
China didn’t abruptly devalue the currency to meet I.M.F. requirements. Obviously, China won’t be able to tightly control the currency any longer.
