Dent & Miles end season on high

SGS Cricket Academy graduates Chris Dent and Craig Miles help secure Gloucestershire County Cricket Club’s first trophy for ten years at Lord’s last weekend.

Gloucestershire beat Surrey in the final by 6 runs in a nail biting finale to the season. Dent helped Gloucestershire get off to a quick start scoring 22 from 20 balls before being caught at mid-off and Miles bowled three overs at an important time when it looked like Surrey were cruising to victory.

Both players spent three years at SGS Cricket Academy and made significant contributions on a regular basis in Academy matches.

Cricket Academy Coach, Simon Hinks, was on hand to watch Dent score an amazing 268, his highest ever score, in his final game of the season against Glamorgan at Bristol. It was his third hundred of the season and took him past 1000 runs for the season.

Hinks states: “I have seen Chris play since the age of fourteen when he came through Thornbury Cricket Club and this without doubt was his finest innings. Now that he has scored ‘a big one’ I am convinced that he can build on it again next season.

Craig Miles has had an equally outstanding season finishing with 46 wickets in the Championship at an average of 25.11 and 10 T20 wickets at 18.90.
