Summary

Starting out in 1989, he has trained over 1,000 winners. None, though, have eclipsed Motivator who won The Derby by five lengths in 2005.

Sariska came close in 2009, though, winning both the English and Irish Oaks, while Art Connoisseur took one of Europe’s most prestigious sprints, the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot, in the same year.

Bell has amassed over £17 million in prize money during his training career. He’s also amassed a few bruises – as when a double kick from Sariska sent him flying straight out of the filly’s stable and straight into hospital.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is one of Bell’s owners.

Margot Did gave Bell his biggest success of 2011 when taking the Group 1 Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York in August. The five furlong contest is the fifth race in the QIPCO British Champions Series Sprint category. He also consecutive runnings of the Grade 1 Northern Dancer Turf Stakes at Woodbine in Canada courtesy of Wigmore Hall in 2011 and 2012.

Bell one again showed his hand in the QIPCO British Champions Series when sending Big Orange out to win the Qatar Goodwood Cup. Under a strong ride from Jamie Spencer, the improving four-year-old battled well in the closing stages to hold off the challenge of Quest For More and Ascot Gold Cup winner Trip To Paris.
