Current Notices

The School of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering on the Howard College Campus strives to achieve excellence in all of its various activities. Headed by Professor F Takawira, it has an academic staff establishment of 26 and a non-academic support staff establishment of 28. It is the largest School in the Faculty of Engineering with 681 undergraduate students registered for the BScEng degree in 2007, 106 postgraduate students registered for the MScEng and 21 registered for PhD degrees. In addition, the School provides service courses for Mechanical and Chemical Engineering students. In 2006 the School graduated 4 Computer, 43 Electronic and 25 Electrical Engineers with BScEng degrees, five with MScEng degrees [dissertation], four with MScEng [coursework and dissertation] and two PhDs.

The disciplines of Electrical, Electronic and Computer engineering are in a state of continuous and rapid growth. Recognizing the challenge of teaching in such an environment, the central philosophy of the School is to ensure that the undergraduates gain an enduring capacity for continuous and effective self-education throughout life.
