World of Work

Vacancies in national and provincial departments are filled by recruiting serving employees or by inviting applications from those who are not employed in the Public Service. Vacancies in senior positions, i. e. the senior management service, must be advertised nationally for recruitment from within and from outside the Public Service.

Education and Training

You must enrol your child in a school between 1 August and 31 September of the preceding year. A Grade R applicant must be at least four years old and turn five or older by 30 June the next year. An applicant for Grade One must be at least five years old and turn six or older by 30 June the next year.

Citizenship

If you are 16 years and older, you may apply for identity document (ID). You will need an ID to register for your matric exams, get a driving licence or open a bank account. If you get your ID and there are errors in the personal, the Department of Home Affairs will replace your ID free of charge..
