Welcome Stone Artisan Park Training Institute(SAPTI)

The Government of Gujarat (Department of Industries and Mines and Commissioner of Geology & Mining) has set up two prestigious Stone Artisan Park Training Institutes (SAPTIs) - one each at Dhrangadhra and Ambaji in the State. These Institutes are only of their kind in India . The main objective of these Institutes is to train students of rural poor and tribal belts in stone craft and operation of stone working machines through various courses and make them suitable to find employment in stone industry/stone trade later on.

Stone Technology Centre (Training Division) [STC(TD)] has been appointed as Training Service Provider in SAPTIs to conduct various training courses. The present faculty of STC(TD) at Ambaji and Dhrangadhra consists of an internationally known stone-technologist, a civil engineer with almost 20 years of work experience in stones and stone related field, sculptors, machine operators, architects, designers, civil engineers etc.

The first batches of three month course on machines for Stone Craft came out after completion of their successful training from SAPTIs, Dhrangadhra and Ambaji on 31st March, 2012. Out of which 22 students from SAPTI, Ambaji and equal number of students from SAPTI, Dhrangadhra have already been employed at salary ranging from Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 15,000 per month. The remaining trainees have decided to join in their family business or start their own industry as self-employed. At present, one batch each of stone sculpting has been completed at both the SAPTIs and all the 60 students have been placed locally. Second batch of Machines for Stonecraft at both the SAPTIs are in progress. Similarly, One Year  Course on Stone Enterprse Development is going to be completed in November, 2012 and in Ambaji in March,2013.
