About

David Knowles is a distinctive vocalist and songwriter based in Edinburgh, Scotland with a growing international following.

After writing his songs whilst travelling the world reading books and perfecting his guitar technique, David posted his first single The Alchemist to YouTube in September 2014. It attracted positive attention as it was shared through social media, owed partly to the video’s evocative clips of David’s time on the road, and enjoyed national radio air-play as XFM’s Jim Gellatly picked up on its “mesmerising” appeal. David’s second single Child Soldier showcased the grungier side of debut album “Footsteps” when both were released in March 2015 (available now): CD | iTunes | Amazon | Spotify. The album and it’s single releases gained favorable reviews with comparisons being made to established artists such as Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder (see On The Road) and Jose Gonzalez (see Silence In The Storm). After the album was launched in Edinburgh’s Voodoo Rooms David embarked on a tour of small venues, fans living rooms and live radio shows with percussionist Matt Varty and cellist Claire Schiavone, playing original tracks from the album as well as covers such as Jimi Hendrix’s Hey Joe
