KT Tunstall (1975-)

BA Drama & Music, 1996 RHBNC; Honorary Doctorate, 2011

KT is a multi-platinum singer-songwriter, whose committed performance style and perfectly balanced songs ensured success for her first two albums: Eye to the Telescope (2005) and Drastic Fantastic (2007) blend folk and pop styles, both reaching number 3 in the UK charts. Taking the long road to success, KT gigged consistently for years before getting a break in 2004 with a solo performance of her famed blues song Black Horse and the Cherry Tree on Later...with Jools Holland. In 2006 she won the Brit Award for Best Female Performer and the Ivor Novello songwriting award for her song Suddenly I See. She released her third studio album, Tiger Suit, in 2010.
