Ghostbusters actor David Marguiles is dead at 78

Veteran actor David Marguiles passed away in his hometown New York
David Margulies, a veteran actor of the stage and screen, whose career spanned decades on Broadway and numerous film roles including the mayor in 'Ghostbusters,' has died. He was 78.
Margulies died in New York on Monday, his agent Mary Harden said Tuesday. No cause of death was immediately available, she said.
The veteran actor, who was also known as Tony Soprano's lawyer Neil Mink in HBO's mafia drama, passed away in New York after a long illness, according to Deadline.
The last role that Marguiles played was Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel in ABC's upcoming miniseries Madoff, starring Richard Dreyfuss as Bernie Madoff.
Madoff is scheduled to air February 3.
Marguiles' mayoral character Lenny Clotch from the Ghostbusters franchise was a nod to former New York mayor Ed Koch.
Apart from a film and television actor, Marguiles was known for his theater roles on and off Broadway.
On Broadway, Marguiles appeared in numerous plays including Angels In America, Comedians, and Brighton Beach Memoirs.
David Marguiles was born February 19, 1937 in Brooklyn.
Margulies made his Broadway debut in the 1973 revival of 'The Iceman Cometh.' He performed on Broadway a dozen more times.
