Penny Dreadful Gets Season 3 Premiere Date at Showtime

Showtime hopes you’ll have a dreadful spring.

Penny Dreadful‘s nine-episode third season will premiere on Sunday, May 1 (10/9c), the network announced Tuesday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in Pasadena.

As previously reported, the horror drama’s Season 3 cast will include newcomers Shazad Latif (The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Spooks), Christian Camargo (Dexter), Sam Barnett (Jupiter Ascending), Wes Studi (Hell on Wheels) and Jessica Barden (Far From the Madding Crowd).

Also announced at the event: House of Lies will return for its fifth season on Sunday, April 10.

    Why the different episode count for each season? Season 1 – 8eps, Season 2 – 10eps, now Season 3 with 9eps? Kinda weird!

      I think John Logan said it just depended on the number of episodes the story ‘fit’ into. Apparently this year it was 9, and Showtime was happy for that to be the case.

    so far away….. but my calendar is filling up with premiere dates! now all I need are Orphan Black and Outlander to really make my year complete!
